The Vertex Australia team consists of seven people, each bringing to the table decades of industry experience.
Vertex Australia Managing Director Mr Juho Suomalainen has almost 40 years of experience in the building industry, from concrete structures to prefabricated timber and steel houses. Juho joined Vertex Systems in Finland in 1998, after working with several building companies and the Finnish government and completing his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Tampere.

If you have contacted Vertex Australia helpdesk you have likely been chatting with Project Manager Mr David Coggan or Project Technician Mr Paul Cherwin. Both have been working in various areas of the construction industry for 30 years. David has 15 years of experience detailing timber frames, floors and timber roof trusses, 10 years as a production and office manager of a timber prefabrication plant, and over 5 years working with steel frames and trusses. David also uses his knowledge of computer programming to work on customisation and development of Vertex BD.
Paul started his career as junior draftsman working with both residential and commercial projects before into the manufacturing of timber wall frames and trusses. Starting as an assembler in the factory, he later moved into estimating and finally detailing. Paul made the change to Light Gauge Steel over 20 years ago, detailing wall frames, floors and trusses. After joining Vertex Australia three years ago, Paul has been doing user help, training and customisations for clients.

Project Engineer Dr Anson He joined Vertex in 2017 and has since been working closely with the end users and the development team to help improve the truss engineering and finite element analysis aspects of Vertex BD. Anson also has experience in providing technical support, training and customisation to Vertex BD users. He graduated from South China University of Technology with a Bachelor degree in metal material science and engineering. He then took on a research position in the University of Queensland and finished his Master of Philosophy in 2013 and Doctor of Philosophy in the field of material science and engineering in 2018.
Area Manager of Greater China Region Dr Yao Xi received his PhD title in engineering from the University of Queensland in 2014. He joined Vertex Systems in 2015 and became Area Manager in 2017. Yao is responsible for Vertex Systems’ operations in China and he has been the main contact between Vertex Systems and our roll former partners in the Asian markets. Yao has extensive experience in software localization and compatibility with roll formers.
